Our Story

Aroosa – The Chikankari Couture was born from a deep love for one of India’s most treasured art forms — Lucknowi Chikankari.

Founded by Anjali, an IIT alumna who chose heritage over corporate life, Aroosa is a celebration of the 400-year-old craft tradition that originated in the royal courts of Lucknow. Every piece in our collection is handcrafted by master kaarigars — artisans who have inherited this delicate embroidery technique across generations.

We believe that true luxury is not about labels. It is about the hours of patient craftsmanship behind every stitch, the stories woven into every thread, and the living heritage preserved in every garment.

When you wear Aroosa, you carry a piece of Lucknow with you.

Our Mission

To preserve and celebrate authentic Lucknowi Chikankari by creating exceptional, handcrafted clothing — while ensuring the artisans behind every piece are recognised and fairly valued for their craft.

Our Vision

To build India’s most trusted name in handcrafted Chikankari couture — a brand where heritage and modern design meet, and where every woman who wears Aroosa carries a piece of Lucknow’s living history with her.

Our Philosophy

We believe clothing should be made to last, not to be discarded after a season. We believe craftsmanship deserves patience, not haste. And we believe true luxury lies not in logos or trends, but in the hours of human skill stitched invisibly into every seam.

This philosophy shapes every decision we make — from the fabric we choose, to the artisans we partner with, to the number of pieces we create in each edit.

Why Aroosa Was Created

Aroosa was created to answer a question that stayed with its founder for years: why should something so intricate, so skilled, and so deeply rooted in Indian heritage be treated as ordinary?

It was created for the woman who wants her ethnic wear to mean something — who wants to know where her clothing comes from, whose hands made it, and what story it carries. It was created to give Chikankari the recognition it has always deserved: not as a passing trend, but as couture.

Our Commitment to Preserving Lucknowi Chikankari

Every Aroosa order directly supports the artisan families who practise this craft. We work in close partnership with our karigars — not as vendors, but as collaborators whose expertise shapes every design we create.

  • We source only authentic, hand-embroidered Chikankari — never machine or printed imitations.
  • We ensure fair compensation for the time and skill each artisan invests.
  • We create in small, limited batches to protect the quality and integrity of the craft.
  • We actively share the stories of the artisans behind our collections, so the craft — and its makers — are never invisible.

Our Values

Authenticity

What you see is exactly what you get — genuine hand embroidery, honestly represented.

Craftsmanship

We honour the time, skill, and tradition behind every stitch.

Slow Fashion

We create thoughtfully, in limited numbers, without compromise for speed.

Transparency

From pricing to process, we believe our customers deserve honesty at every step.

Timelessness

We design for longevity — pieces you will reach for years from now, not just this season.

A Message From Our Founder

“Aroosa is more than a brand to me — it is a promise. A promise to the artisans of Lucknow, that their craft will be seen and valued the way it deserves. And a promise to you, that every piece you wear from us was made with care, patience, and pride.

Building this brand alongside motherhood, wearing every hat from designer to storyteller, has taught me that the things worth creating are rarely the fastest ones. Chikankari has taught me patience. I hope, in some small way, it teaches you to slow down too — and to fall in love with clothing that was made to last a lifetime, not a season.”
